AIDAN CHUN

Aidan Chun is a composer, bassoonist, and conductor from Oahu, Hawaii. A graduate of Punahou School in Manoa, and most recently Chapman University in Orange, California with a Bachelors of Music in both performance and composition.

He currently resides in Oahu, Hawai’i, where he is working with local teachers and students, working on new works for schools and teaching private lessons in bassoon, composition and theory. At Chapman, he studied composition under Dr. Christopher Castro, bassoon performance with Elliott Moreau, and has studied conducting with premier conductors such as Dr. Danko Drusko, Dr. Geoffrey Pope, and Maestro Carl St. Clair.

Throughout the year, Aidan regularly practices and performs across Oahu in ensembles such as the Honolulu Wind Ensemble, Oahu Civic Orchestra and the Hawai’i Symphonic Band. Recently, Aidan has performed with the Hawai’i Symphony Orchestra, as part of their Community Side-by-side performance.

Aidan has also been featured as conductor as part of the Honolulu Wind Ensemble’s 2025 Summer Concert Series, spanning four concerts across the island of Oahu throughout the month of July. Aidan was also the conductor featuring the Hawai’i Symphonic Band at the Pearl Harbor: America250 Commemoration Ceremony on July 4th. Back in March 2026, Aidan was also featured in-part with the Chapman Wind Symphony’s spring concert, premiering his composition, Aloha Hawai’i Ku’u Kulāiwi. Aloha Hawai’i Ku’u Kulāiwi was premiered and conducted by Aidan in March 7th, 2026 at the Musco Center for the Arts in Orange, California.

During his studies, Aidan has also been hired as a ringer by the institutions such as, the University of Irvine Symphony Orchestra, Pacific Symphony Youth Orchestra, and the Orange County Youth Orchestra. Most recently, he was hired as a ringer as part of the Orange County Youth Symphony’s tour across France, spanning from Normandy to Paris.

His diverse musical repertoire spans chamber music, standard classical works and film scores, including live-to-picture performances.

Outside of his music, Aidan enjoys hiking, fishing, and staying connected to his community through ongoing bassoon and conducting performances.
